This Saturday, December 4th, the Melanaster Band returns to the Emerald Lounge, joined by folk / pop heroes Uncle Mountain.

Uncle Mountain combines complex, multi-layered harmonies with Americana songwriting to create a sound that is “rich, layered, lively, and most surprisingly, cohesive.” – CityBeat (Cincinnati). They are also cuter than a baby Fennec fox. These guys keep getting better over time, and are among the best bands based in Asheville!

Marley Added To Autonomous Music Roster!

Melanaster Records is very proud to announce a new partnership with Portland-based booking and management agency Autonomous Music.

Marley Carroll is the latest artist to be added to their impressive roster, which includes performers like DJ Vadim, Heyoka and Bluetech.

What this ultimately means is that Melanaster music will be reaching more people, both recorded and in person! Keep an eye out on the blog for announcements of upcoming shows and tours. Event : Melanaster at All Go West Fest!

The Melanaster Band will be joining a slew of Asheville’s finest indie musicians for the All Go West festival on Saturday, April 24th. The event takes place on two outdoor stages in West Asheville (in front of Harvest Records, next to the Rocket Club) and is absolutely free!

Bottom line : Free music, beer, and fun in West Asheville. April 24th, 12PM to 10PM.

Event : The Melanaster Band In Charlotte (Just Announced!)

Thursday, February 18th the Melanaster Band will take its underwater vibes to Marley’s native hometown of Charlotte, NC.

We’re very excited to finally bring the show to the people that have supported the Melanaster project from the start. We’ll be joined by Do It To Julia and Swift Science.

The Prefuse 73 show and the Melanaster Band’s debut were rolling successes, thanks to gracious fans, great musicians, and the Asheville music scene. As the dust settles, there will be recordings, photos, and video from both shows posted to the blog. See you soon!

Melanaster Band Debut in Asheville

It’s official : the Melanaster Band’s first show will be Thursday, September 24th at the Emerald Lounge in Asheville.

The lineup includes Marley Carroll (vocals, keyboards), Billy Cardine (dobro, samples), Ryan Lassiter (drums), Barrett Smith (guitar), Jake Wolf (bass).

Expect to hear songs from Melanaster as well as brand-new material developed in collaboration with these incredible musicians. Check out the blog’s downloads section to preview / buy the album.

The band will be supported by Asheville electroacoustic luminaries Sonmi Suite; show starts at 10PM, $7 [map].
