Video : Mr. Invisible L.A. Roundup
June has been insane, which accounts for the lack of updates / Melanaster news as of late. We’ll be back soon in full-force, new & improved. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s been going on with my other projects:
• Mr. Invisible spent a week in L.A. earlier this month as part of our sponsorship with Native Instruments. We shot a promotional video for their Maschine workstation and played a show at Low End Theory, alongside Daddy Kev, D-Styles and Gaslamp Killer. Stellar.
• Uncle Mountain just wrapped up a week-long residency in Manteo (outer banks, NC) with the ECU Summer Dance Theater. Incredibly fun, miserably hot, days off in the ocean, bodysurfing among jellyfish blooms.
• Modo is about to embark on a short southeast tour that will take us to the Pensacola Museum of Art, among other places, fresh from a killer show at the Lexington Ave Brewery.
Combine all that craziness with DJ gigs here and there and you can see why the blog has gotten little love lately. But look forward to new videos, new music, show announcements, and more Melanaster goodness.

Event : Mr. Invisible at the Black Flower (Raleigh NC)
Real quick bump: Mr. Invisible will take the stage at the Black Flower in Raleigh this Friday, February 12th with Big Hop. According to the Facebook event page : ” …the bar specials will make you hate the next morning, though your wallet will be thanking you.” Sounds like a winner!

Melanaster Records is proud to present 30 in 60, a brand-new live DJ mix that features the experimental looping and glitching techniques that Marley Carroll has developed over the past year [see video below].
30 in 60 features 30 tracks in exactly 60 minutes, and the album cover substitutes for a track list – each square represents an artist featured in the mix.
Much of the material was developed specifically for Marley’s opening slot for Prefuse 73 in September of this year, and the highlights of those two hours were condensed to make this killer 60-minute workout.

Marley Carroll, Mr. Invisible, Good Earth Project Selected For What.CD Compilation
The final track listing has been released for this year’s What.CD artist compilation. Among the 100 artists that submitted tracks for consideration, Marley Carroll, Mr. Invisible, and The Good Earth Project (a collaborative NC hip-hop effort featuring members of Mr. I, Ike Turnah, Mr. Mattic and others) were selected for inclusion in the twenty-one track compilation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for NC musicians to be spotlighted in a huge online community, and proof of the excellent quality of music emerging from the region. We should all be proud!
The blog will be taking a hiatus until early next week. We’ll see you soon!
